Rhoer Clubs were founded in 1939 at the 14th International Boule in New York City. The first Rhoer Club was organized in 1940 by the Alpha Eta Chapter.

The Rhoer Club is an affiliate of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. The Rhoer Club consists of a
diverse group of young ladies between the ages of twelve and eighteen who demonstrate high
scholastic standards. Rhoer Clubs are organized, maintained, and sponsored by local graduate
chapters within each of the five geographical regions of the Sorority. The program consists of
training and guidance in education, community service, vocation, fine arts, and social affairs.

The program also provides the young women with the energy, support, commitment, and
encouragement of the Sorors of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. to help them develop and
succeed in their life’s endeavors.

Under the leadership of Soror Shevon Reed, on Sunday, January 19, 2014, the Rhoer Club,
sponsored by Lambda Chi Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., was
officially formed with the induction of three members, Rhoer Chanel M., Rhoer Kayla M. and Rhoer Nekeiah M. The purpose of the Rhoer Club is to provide a positive experience for young adolescent ladies in leadership development, academic and personal counseling, mentoring,
community service and rites of passage. Together these young ladies work collectively to uphold
the Rhoer motto, Sisters Forever.

“The Rhoer Club has shaped me in more ways than one. Just the overall feeling of the sisterhood gave me so much personal growth. Being an only child it was really hard to sort of branch out and get to know new people, and even though when I first joined the club I was very shy and scared to talk to the other Rhoers, but going to all of the volunteering events, doing bonding with my fellow Rhoers, and the support system that came with it made me more excited to go and spend time with them. That being said, those attributes carried on to my life outside of the Rhoers, it made me want to be the first person to raise my hand in class, shoot for opportunities that I knew I might not have even have a chance to get, make new friends, and seek interest in things that are new to me. While also being a historian, it has taught me to embrace and capture the moment so that when you look back at where you started you can see how much progress you’ve truly made. While being a treasurer it has taught me how budgeting works, and how fundraisers can really help out on the things that you want to succeed in for the outcome of the club. The Rhoer Club has opened me up to so many things that I hadn’t seen before in different communities and gave me a whole other perspective of a lifestyle outside of mine. With all that I’ve done with the Rhoers it has inspired me to want to have a future Greek life with the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. to continue a sisterhood with others that are looking for a community to lean on and having that extra support group. On top of that, the Rhoer Club has opened me up to the major of special education to help those who need just a little more guidance in the education aspect without feeling like they are out of place. With all of the things I’ve accomplished throughout my journey of the Lambda Chi Sigma Rhoer Club it has made a great impact on me now and for all of the things that are yet to come. It has shaped me to be a better woman not only for myself but for the sake of others..”
